nVidia NVS 3100M 512MB DDR3
Windows 7 Pro


I followed the instructions for an nVidia card, but every time I click on the shortcut, it says "Please Insert Falcon 4.0 Disk".

I'm running it as an administrator...so I'm not sure what the problem is.

The old girl gave me triple the years of viewing pleasure than I ever expected it would. All the skins I've ever done for all versions of Falcon were crafted on that baby and last Tuesday when she finally went black, it brought a tear to my eye! :crying: The G810 had a dot pitch of .26 and was touted as the best graphics monitor of it's time and it cost $1,000 new...LOL...best grand I ever invested. I replaced it with an HP 27" wide screen and am astounded by it's clarity and color. Only one major problem, Falcon is horizontally stretched out of aspect ratio and FF6 looks butt-ugly, no matter what resolution I try. I can control the proportion of all other applications because they operate in a separate windows. I've searched for a solution for F4 and no joy. Am working on a new skin for a GR3 Harrier for the Falklands and need a solution ASAP. does anyone have an idea of how to set up FF5 to use multiple displays ? I would like to set up forwrd, left and right views simultaniously using data projectors around my cockpit. I am using an MFD extractor on a secondary pc to display all instrumentation on lcd displays inside my cockpit and want to create a more realistic view around the cockpit so I dont have to use the POV switch on my joystick to see my wingman, just want to turn my head and see him there :-)

any ideas please ?????

I also have not had engine sound only afterburner sound and all the settings are at max, I don't know if this problem is related thought I would mention it. The ff7 program loads quickly and graphics are good!
The gear goes down only half way down when activated? I tried a landing in this state wondering what would happen and did a belly landing only, no flames.

This is my first post on this forum, and I would like to thank everyone for making FreeFalcon such a beautiful game!

I have been flying FF5.5/6 for a couple months. I have finished the rolling fire campaign and have been trying out the iron fortress campaign. However, I keep running into a freeze problem only 40 minutes to 2 hours into the iron fortress campaign. The freeze occurs right after loading certain saved campaign files. In some cases, after a problematic save file is loaded, the campaign would try to run for 4 seconds and then freeze: the clock would start showing at x second, goes to x+1 second, stays at x+1 second when it is supposedly the x+2 second as if the campaign is stuck on something, spends a fraction of a second at the supposedly x+3 second and finally freezes at x+4 second. I am still able to view flights, change steerpoints and loadouts, and the music is still playing, but the campaign is not progressing, e.g., no radio calls are received, can’t fly missions. I can exit to the load saved campaign screen but then can’t push any buttons and have to force the game to quit. The freezing behavior is not entirely consistent though, and in some cases the campaign would freeze within the first couple seconds after a problematic save file is loaded. The freeze does not seem to produce a crash log, and I have had freeze on various squadrons.

For my last two iron fortress campaign runs I followed the various tips for preventing campaign crashes/freezes as best as I could, but I am still running into the same problem. For instance, for the last campaign run, when a problematic save file is produced only ~40 minutes into the campaign and after a short (~4 minutes) CAS flight in the 3D world, I have been running the campaign with no time acceleration for more than 20 minutes, and with the exception of this last CAS mission all in the 2D world and with only one squadron change during those 20 minutes.

One strange thing is, it is only after I exit the campaign and then reload the save file (say, after restarting FF) that the freeze occurs. The campaign will keep going if I save but do not exit to the load screen. Staying in the 2D world more seems to lower the probability of producing a problematic save, but does not prevent it from happening eventually. To make things more strange, sometimes I am able to get around this freeze problem by first loading a save that I know works, let the campaign run for a few seconds and exit, and then load the save that is problematic, which will then work (and without the skipping-a-second behavior). It is almost as if some leftover fragments in the working campaign run are helping the one that is problematic. However this trick does not always work, and sooner or later I will produce a problematic save that guarantees a freeze.

Now, for the first two minutes into the campaign (but for those two minutes only), I do switch squadrons a lot to plan and tweak various early attacks on enemy airbases (or otherwise it will be a lot more tedious later on). I know changing squadron a lot is bad, but the problematic save occurs long after that, when many of these early AI strike missions have already landed. When I decide to fly a mission personally, I tend to jump into a flight and exit when the flight is in the air (i.e., I don’t take off and land), though I don’t think this causes the problematic save because I did the same thing for the rolling fire campaign and experienced no freeze. I am using a pretty old laptop: Intel Core 2 duo at 2.5 GHz with 2GM RAM, ATI Radeon HD 3650, CH fighterstick and Windows XP. However, the freeze occurs even when there is really only light air traffic (I have seen a lot worse traffic that produces no freeze) and in the 2D world, so I am not sure if the lack of computing power is the problem either.

My last three iron fortress campaign runs all ended up with the same problem :( I have tried using Tacedit 2.48 to open the campaign file to see if I can decipher anything but I always get the message “version 99 not supported” when loading any campaign save. So I finally decided to seek out expert opinions on this forum. I have read through the existing topics but didn’t quite see the same kind of freeze that I have, i.e., freezing upon loading (maybe I missed it). Any suggestion is immensely appreciated! click on the button saying: "add application to current profile", there select FFviper.exe from your freefalcon install directory."

my problem is when i click on "add application to current profile" it brings up another window showing my free falcon 5 folders so i scroll down to FFViper and click it then click open and nothing happens. what am i doing wrong?
